Custom Window Coverings in Newmarket & Aurora
Factory-direct blinds, shutters, drapery and motorization — measured, made and installed for homes from Yonge Street's heritage cores to the newest estate builds. The showroom comes to you.
Two towns on the same stretch of Yonge, and a lot of tall windows
Newmarket and Aurora sit minutes apart, and they share a particular mix: century homes near the historic Main Street and Yonge Street cores, wide family subdivisions built through the 90s and 2000s, and newer estate homes with two-storey foyers and glass that reaches the second floor.
Each of those asks for something different, and almost none of them fit an off-the-shelf blind. Every blind, shutter and drape we make is custom-measured for your openings and manufactured factory-direct — so the fit is precise, the price is fair, and nothing has to be forced to work.
Whether you're looking for residential window coverings in Newmarket, window treatments in Aurora, or a full-home project across both, our consultants bring the studio to your door — fabric samples, hardware, and unhurried advice, with no pressure and no obligation.

Every product is custom-measured and manufactured — nothing off the shelf, nothing forced to fit.

The window problems change street by street — here's what we tend to meet in each part of Newmarket and Aurora.
Historic Newmarket & Main Street
Century homes with tall, narrow sash windows and period trim. Shutters and tailored drapery sit best here — they follow the architecture instead of covering it.
Glenway & Huron Heights
Established family homes with wide living-room windows and sliding patio doors. A sweet spot for layered blinds and vertical or sliding panel solutions.
Stonehaven & Summerhill
Larger newer builds with two-storey foyers and upper transoms. Motorization stops being a luxury here — it's the only comfortable way to reach the top row.
Aurora Village & Yonge Street
Aurora's older core, where heritage windows and modern comfort have to get along. Custom sizing matters more than product choice.
Bayview Wellington
Consistent, modern window lines across whole subdivisions — ideal for clean zebra and roller blinds run throughout the home.
Aurora Estates & Hills of St Andrew
Executive homes on wide lots, with gable walls and oversized glass. Sheers layered under blackout panels do the heavy lifting in bedrooms.

GTA homeowners keep choosing us
A perfect 5.0-star Google rating, earned one careful installation at a time.
We had shutters installed throughout our home and couldn't be happier. The quality is outstanding and the installation team was meticulous — everything was done with care and precision. We've already recommended Starlight to our neighbours.
Wonderful experience! I wanted drapery that felt luxurious but not overdone, and the consultant understood exactly what I was after. The finished result is stunning — my living room looks like it belongs in a magazine. Couldn't recommend them more.
We used Starlight for a full-home installation — roller shades in every room. The process was seamless from start to finish: professional, punctual, and excellent quality. Will absolutely use them again for our cottage.
Questions homeowners here ask
Yes — both towns, and the communities around them. We're based in the GTA with showrooms in Scarborough and Mississauga, but the consultation happens at your house, not ours. You don't drive anywhere. If you're just outside Newmarket or Aurora and wondering whether you're in range, call and ask; the answer is usually yes.
For most homes here — century properties near Main Street with non-standard sash openings, and newer builds with oversized or two-storey glass — yes. Off-the-shelf blinds rarely fit precisely, and the gaps, light leaks and generic hardware show. Custom treatments are made to the exact millimetre of your opening, use better mechanisms, and typically outlast big-box products by many years. Because we manufacture factory-direct, the price difference is usually smaller than people expect.
Blinds have rigid slats (wood, faux wood, or aluminium) that tilt to control light. Shades are a single piece of fabric that raises or rolls — roller, zebra, Roman, and cellular are all shades. Drapes and curtains are fabric panels hung from a rod; drapes tend to use heavier, lined fabric, while curtains are lighter. Most rooms benefit from layering — a shade for everyday light control and a drapery panel for softness and warmth.
We measure everything. Precise measurement is the step that decides whether the finished job looks right — even small errors cause gaps, misaligned fabric, or mechanisms that don't clear the frame. Our consultants use a laser measure on every window and take full responsibility for the fit. Irregular and non-standard openings are routine for us, not an exception.
Yes — it's one of the more common jobs in the newer parts of both towns. Angled gable walls need panels shaped to the slope rather than cut square, and two-storey glass needs motorization to be genuinely usable. We measure the exact angle on site and build to it. The bedroom in our gallery above is an Aurora gable wall with blackout panels fitted to the pitch.
We enjoy these. For period homes we usually suggest solid-louvre California shutters or tailored drapery that complements the original trim, custom-built for the openings you actually have — tall sash windows, arched transoms, bay fronts. We'll say honestly when a treatment would fight the architecture rather than sell it to you anyway.
Layering. A blackout panel on its own can leave light spilling around the edges; a sheer on its own is lovely by day and useless at night. Pairing the two on one track gives you soft filtered light in the morning and a genuinely dark room when you close it. For a shade-only solution, blackout cellular shades with side channels come closest to a full seal.
We can usually arrange an in-home visit within a few days. From that first consultation, a typical custom order is manufactured and installed within two to three weeks, with the install itself usually taking a single day even for a whole house. Specialty shapes and motorized runs that need wiring can add time — we'll tell you at the consultation, not after you've ordered.
Yes. We carry a full range of cordless and motorized options with no dangling cords at all — the safest choice for homes with young children or pets. Cordless roller shades and motorized zebra blinds are the most popular picks. Faux-wood blinds hold up well in homes with pets, since they wipe clean and don't warp.
Yes. We're an authorised Somfy dealer and a certified Control4 integration partner. Your blinds and drapery can be scheduled, grouped, and controlled by remote, app, or your existing smart-home hub — and we handle everything from measurement to motor calibration to pairing. It's especially worth it for upper transoms and stairwell glass you can't otherwise reach.
