Custom Blackout Drapery for
Restful Toronto Rooms
Blackout drapery is about control — the quiet of a fully darkened bedroom, the depth of a true media-room screen, the calm of a nursery at midday.
Darkness you can actually control
Lined and tailored to the exact width of your window, blackout drapery seals out light at the edges where standard panels let it slip through. With the right hardware — a wrap-around track or an overlapping return — and a heavyweight blackout lining, our drapes also block street glow, soften outside noise, and add welcome insulation against the Toronto cold. Layer them over sheer curtains for a room that works as well at noon as it does at midnight.
True darkness
A heavyweight blackout lining stops daylight and streetlight from passing through the fabric.
Edge-to-edge seal
Wrap-around tracks and overlapping returns close the light gaps at the sides and top.
Warmer & quieter
Dense lined panels insulate against winter cold and dampen outside noise.
Designer fabrics
Rich colours and weaves — from Ivory to Forest Green — every panel fully lined.
What blackout drapery does
01Sleep on your own schedule
For primary bedrooms, shift workers, and babies who nap at noon — blackout drapery makes a room dark whenever you need it, not just after sunset.
02Media-room depth
Kill the glare and lift the contrast on screens and projectors. A properly sealed room turns movie night into a real theatre.
03Energy & full privacy
Heavy lined fabric trims heat loss through the glass and gives complete privacy day and night. Add motorization to close everything with a word.
Choose the pleat, the fabric, the fall
Every panel is custom-measured and sewn to your exact window, with a dedicated blackout lining — nothing off the shelf, nothing forced to fit.
Pinch Pleat Blackout Tailored classic
Crisp, structured folds that read formal and timeless — the traditional choice for living and dining rooms. Tied back by day, drawn full and dark at night.
Ripplefold Blackout Modern
A clean, continuous wave on a track — modern and uninterrupted across wide spans and patio doors. Glides effortlessly, ideal for everyday use.
Layered: Blackout + Sheer Day + night
Sheers in front for soft daytime light, a blackout drape behind for full darkness at night. One window, two completely different moods.
Floor-to-Ceiling & Specialty Any shape
Bay windows, arched and angled glass, double-height great rooms — we engineer custom tracks so even curved and oversized windows seal and hang true.
Colour that anchors a room — then disappears in the dark
Blackout fabric comes in far more than black. These are six favourites from our blackout-lined collection — deep enough to darken a room, refined enough to anchor it. We bring full-size samples to your home so you can see each colour in your own light.

Tailored to seal, built to last
Measured for the light gap
The darkness lives or dies at the edges. We measure for generous overlap and returns, and mount the track to clear the frame, so light can't sneak around the sides the way it does with off-the-shelf panels.
Lined for real performance
Every panel is backed with a dedicated blackout lining and weighted to hang straight. The result blocks light, insulates against the cold, and softens sound — not just a darker-looking fabric.
Designed to layer
Pair blackout drapes with sheer curtains or a roller shade for full day-to-night control, planned as one composition.
Blackout drapery, answered
Do blackout curtains block 100% of the light?
The fabric itself blocks essentially all light from passing through. The faint glow most people notice comes from the edges and top, not the cloth — so the real trick is the install. We mount the track to overlap the frame, add returns to the wall, and size the panels generously, which is how a Starlight blackout room gets genuinely dark.
Can blackout drapery be motorized?
Yes. A quiet motor closes them on a schedule, a remote, the app, or a voice command — so the room darkens for a nap or a movie without anyone getting up. They run on the same smart-home motorization system as your other Starlight treatments.
What fabrics and colours are available?
Our blackout-lined collection spans warm neutrals like Ivory and Beige through to Millstone Grey, Blue, and Forest Green, in weaves from smooth to lightly textured. We bring full-size samples so you can judge the colour in your own room.
Do blackout drapes help with temperature and noise?
They do. A dense lined panel slows heat loss through the window in winter and heat gain in summer, and the extra mass noticeably softens outside noise — a quiet bonus alongside the darkness.
Are blackout curtains good for nurseries and kids' rooms?
They're one of our most-requested rooms. Daytime naps come easier in a dark room, and every motorized and cordless option is child- and pet-safe, with no dangling cords.
Can I layer blackout drapes with sheers or shades?
Absolutely — it's the best of both. Sheers or a light-filtering shade handle daytime softness, while the blackout drape pulls across for full darkness at night, all on one tidy double track.
Do you make blackout drapery for large or specialty windows?
Yes. Bay windows, arched and angled glass, patio doors, and double-height great rooms are a specialty — we build custom curved or extended tracks so the panels seal and draw smoothly.
How long does it take, and where do you install?
Most custom blackout orders take about 2–3 weeks from your free in-home consultation to installation. We serve Toronto and across the GTA — Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Markham, and Mississauga — with showrooms in Scarborough and Mississauga.
